Centre to Focus on Robotics, Physical AI and Generative AI; 150 Employees Already Recruited
Dehradun, September 10, 2026: Digital Divide Data (DDD), a global social enterprise and AI and data services company, has launched its Global Capability Centre (GCC) in Dehradun, marking a significant step towards expanding advanced technology and AI-related employment opportunities in Uttarakhand.
The centre, which is fully owned by DDD, will focus on robotics, physical AI and generative AI data services. The company plans to expand its workforce at the Dehradun centre to between 800 and 1,000 employees over the next few months, potentially making it one of the largest hubs for AI-related specialist jobs in Uttarakhand.
The centre began operations on August 1, 2026, and has already recruited around 150 people in three batches within six weeks. According to DDD, the rapid recruitment highlights the availability of a strong pool of graduate and technical talent in Dehradun and Uttarakhand.
DDD’s First GCC in India
The Dehradun centre is DDD’s first Global Capability Centre in India and is an important part of the company’s expansion of its global AI delivery network.
The centre will undertake specialised projects related to physical AI and robotics, including the collection and annotation of egocentric video, sensor data and multimodal datasets. Such datasets are used to train machine-learning systems to understand real-world environments and respond appropriately.
The Dehradun GCC will also support DDD’s broader AI and data services portfolio, including egocentric data collection, multimodal data annotation, data curation, LLM fine-tuning support, low-resource language services, AI model evaluation, data preparation and validation.
These services will support the development and improvement of AI models using text, images, video and other multimodal formats.
Centre Located at Doon IT Park
The DDD centre is located at Doon IT Park, SIIDCUL, and is equipped with enterprise-grade infrastructure, security and delivery facilities. It will provide AI model training and data services to DDD’s global engineering and technology teams.
Priority to Fresh Graduates and Local Youth
DDD is giving priority to fresh graduates and local youth from Uttarakhand during recruitment. The company said it places greater emphasis on candidates’ capabilities and potential rather than previous experience.
Before beginning work on live production projects, new employees undergo structured induction and role-specific training.
The initiative is expected to give graduates from Uttarakhand an opportunity to work on advanced AI and robotics projects without having to move to major metropolitan cities. Recruitment for the centre is currently underway across different parts of the state.
DDD Has Helped More Than 15,000 People Build Careers
Founded in 2001, Digital Divide Data is a global social enterprise and a leader in impact sourcing. According to the company, its model has helped more than 15,000 people build careers across the United States, Cambodia, Kenya and Laos, with around 95% coming from economically and socially disadvantaged backgrounds.
The company is also committed to maintaining a workforce in which women account for around 50% of employees.
‘India Has Become an Important Centre for Enterprise AI’
DDD Chief Operating Officer Steve Larson said, “India has become an important centre for enterprise AI. This investment in Dehradun is an important step in the next phase of DDD’s growth.”
He said the new centre would strengthen the company’s ability to support clients working on rapidly evolving AI products, including physical AI and robotics, while also enhancing the technical and delivery capabilities of its global network.
DDD Vice President, Operations, Bethuel Jabez, said Dehradun was selected because of its strong talent pool and the potential to create better technology career opportunities for the youth of Uttarakhand.
He said 150 people had already joined the team, adding that the company aims to build a centre offering quality training, high standards and genuine opportunities for career growth.
