Nainital Police on High Alert for Girls’ Safety: Surveillance Intensified Around Schools, Awareness Drive Launched

Ko

, May 8, 2026. In a proactive move to ensure the safety of schoolgirls, Nainital Police has ramped up vigilance across the district. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Dr. Manjunath TC has issued strict directives to all station house officers, traffic inspectors, CPU Haldwani, and outpost in-charges. The focus is on maintaining a regular police presence around schools, prioritizing the security of students—especially girls—during school opening and closing hours.

Enhanced Patrolling and Traffic Management Near Schools

Under SSP’s orders, police teams will conduct continuous foot patrols near schools in their respective jurisdictions. Smooth traffic flow will be ensured to prevent congestion and risks. “Student safety, particularly for girls, is our top priority. This will build confidence among parents,” SSP Dr. Manjunath emphasized. The initiative covers over 50 schools in Haldwani, Lalkuan, and surrounding areas, addressing recent concerns over harassment incidents.

Awareness Session in Haldwani: Dial 112 for Immediate Help

In Haldwani, Traffic Inspector Shri Bhupesh Pandey, Woman Sub-Inspector (WSI) Aarti (Bhotia Padav Outpost, Kotwali Haldwani), and CPU Haldwani team interacted with schoolgirls outside campuses. They educated them on women’s safety, self-confidence, and seeking police assistance. Girls were advised to report any teasing, misconduct, or suspicious activity immediately via Dial 112.

The police assured, “Nainital Police is always ready for your protection—reach out without hesitation.” Pamphlets with emergency contacts and safety tips were distributed, with dozens of students participating enthusiastically.

Positive Response from Parents and Schools

School managements and parents have welcomed the drive. One parent said, “Police patrolling will make school commutes safer for our children.” The district administration supports this, linking it to broader women empowerment and child safety programs. Regular follow-ups, including parent-teacher meetings with police, are planned.
