New IG Nivedita Kukreti Takes Charge of Kumaon Range, Focuses on Law and Order, Women’s Safety and Kainchi Dham Preparations

After assuming office, IG Kukreti interacted with officers and staff at the range headquarters and reviewed the overall law-and-order situation, crime control measures, traffic management, and other key policing challenges across the region.
Addressing the media, she said that enhancing public safety, especially for women and children, launching effective campaigns against narcotics, preventing cybercrime, ensuring prompt redressal of public grievances, and strengthening trust between the police and citizens would remain her top priorities.
Special Focus on Kainchi Dham Fair and Tourist Season
IG Kukreti emphasized that the upcoming Kainchi Dham Foundation Day celebrations and the ongoing tourist season require special attention to ensure smooth traffic flow and the safety of pilgrims and visitors. She stated that comprehensive plans for traffic management, parking facilities, shuttle services, diversion routes, and crowd control would be implemented across the concerned districts to provide a hassle-free experience for devotees and tourists.
Emphasis on Modern Policing and Personnel Welfare
The newly appointed IG highlighted the importance of modern policing, greater use of technology, smart policing initiatives, strengthened crime analysis systems, and the welfare and capacity building of police personnel. She said coordinated strategies would be adopted to address crime and traffic-related challenges effectively and in a time-bound manner.
Media a Key Partner in Public Awareness
During the press interaction, IG Kukreti described the media as an important stakeholder in promoting public awareness and maintaining social harmony. She expressed hope for constructive cooperation between the police and media to better serve public interests.
Visits Kainchi Dham for Ground Inspection
Immediately after taking charge, IG Kukreti visited Kainchi Dham to review preparations for the upcoming fair and tourist season. She inspected traffic arrangements, parking areas, crowd management plans, security measures, emergency response systems, and facilities for devotees, while issuing necessary directions to officials.
She also stressed the need for close coordination between the police administration and the temple committee to ensure a safe, well-organized, and successful event, with special attention to the security, convenience, and smooth movement of pilgrims.
