Uttarakhand Mayors Learning Innovations in Madhya Pradesh – Four-Day Exposure Visit Begins in Bhopal
Bhopal/Haldwani/Kathgodam, August 19:
An 18-member delegation comprising mayors and municipal officials from Uttarakhand has arrived in Bhopal for a four-day exposure visit, organized under the aegis of the Directorate of Urban Development, Dehradun. The aim of this visit is to study the successful urban development initiatives and innovative projects being implemented in Madhya Pradesh and explore their adoption in Uttarakhand.
On the first day of the study tour, the delegation participated in various workshops at RCVP Noronha Academy of Administration and Management, Bhopal. Senior officials from Bhopal and Indore municipal corporations provided detailed information on key projects, including the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, Swachh Bharat Mission, tax collection systems, and the AMRUT scheme.
A special focus was placed on the Recycle Hub project being run in Bhopal and Indore, where waste is collected separately from houses, shops, and temples, helping generate new employment and income sources. Officials stated that such innovations have significantly increased municipal revenues and played a crucial role in making cities cleaner and more beautiful. The delegation will also visit various sites to observe these innovative projects in action.
The team, led by Haldwani-Kathgodam Mayor Gajraj Bisht, includes the mayors, chairpersons, and executive officers of Rudrapur, Pithoragarh, Kotdwar, Srinagar, Barahat, Tehri, Tanakpur, Bageshwar, Rudraprayag, Ranikhet, Mussoorie, and Nainital. IEC and capacity building expert Vimla Makhlouga, as well as training coordinator Anil Mishra, are also part of the delegation.
