Uttarakhand Hosts 28th All India Forest Sports Meet; Haldwani Athletes Shine,,

The 28th All India Forest Sports Competition, held at Maharana Sports College in Raipur, Dehradun from 12 to 15 November, concluded with a grand ceremony graced by Hon’ble Governor Lieutenant General Sardar Gurmeet Singh (Retd) as the Chief Guest, alongside Forest Minister Subodh Uniyal and Cantt MLA Savita Kapoor.Notably, athletes from Haldwani, Nainital district, made their mark. Raji Adhikari, Lalitmohan Joshi, and Jyoti Joshi clinched the gold medal in mixed doubles tennis by defeating Karnataka 6–3, 6–1 in the finals. In other events, Devendra Singh Bisht (Haldwani) and Mohit Singh Rathore (Ramnagar) won bronze in Veterans Men’s Doubles, while Lalitmohan Joshi partnered with Dehradun’s Kapil Lal to secure silver in Senior Veterans Men’s Doubles. Joshi also claimed the silver medal in Senior Veterans Men’s Singles.The competition drew about 3,450 players from 42 teams representing states, union territories, and institutions. Uttarakhand, as the host state, finished sixth with a total of 67 medals, while Haldwani’s Jyoti Joshi was named Best Athlete of the INFAMI 2025 competition.The event was inaugurated by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on November 12. District Tennis Association, Nainital, extended congratulations to all medalists, highlighting the importance of sports in regional and societal development and lauding the organizers for their efforts.
