Transport Department’s Intensive Enforcement Drive
159 Vehicles Fined, 5 Seized – 50 for Wrong-Side Driving
Haldwani – Under the direction of Divisional Transport Officer (Enforcement & Road Safety) Dr. Gurdev Singh, the Transport Department conducted an intensive checking campaign today. During the drive, 159 vehicles were penalized, and 5 vehicles including autos, buses, and pickups were seized.
On the Lalkuan–Haldwani route, 50 vehicles were fined for driving on the wrong side. Apart from this, penalties were imposed for violations such as permit breaches, non-uniform driving by commercial operators, pending tax, lack of valid fitness/insurance/pollution certificate, not wearing seat belts or helmets, absence of reflectors/number plates, using mobile phones while driving, overloading, and no-parking violations.
The enforcement drive was carried out by Assistant Transport Officer (Enforcement) Jitendra Sangwan, Tax Officers Mrs. Anubha Arya and Mrs. Aparajita Pandey, Transport Inspectors R.C. Pawar, Girish Kandpal, Nandan Rawat, along with supporting staff including Assistant Inspectors and Transport Constables.
