Sensational Mukhani Murder Case Solved, Accused Arrested
Haldwani
The sensational murder of a female yoga trainer in Mukhani has been solved by Nainital Police. On August 19, the police arrested the prime accused, bringing an end to the mystery.
On August 3, complainant Deepa Mer of Halduchowk filed a report at Mukhani police station stating that her daughter, Jyoti Mer—working as a yoga trainer at Ajay Yoga & Fitness Centre, Mukhani—had been murdered. The family suspected the gym owner Ajay Yadavanshi and his younger brother Abhay Yadavanshi alias Raja.
Under the directions of SSP Nainital Prahlad Narayan Meena, CCTV footage around the incident spot was examined, which showed a suspicious man leaving the scene. He was identified as 24-year-old Abhay Kumar alias Raja, resident of West Champaran, Bihar. Acting on leads, police chased him up to Nepal and finally arrested him near Nagla Tiraha.
During interrogation, Abhay confessed that he managed the yoga centre along with his elder brother Ajay. However, after Ajay developed an illicit relationship with victim Jyoti, he stopped supporting Abhay financially and asked him to leave. Enraged, Abhay strangulated Jyoti with her dupatta inside her rented room and fled to Nepal.
The murder weapon (dupatta) has been recovered. For solving the case, the police team was rewarded with a cash prize of ₹2500.
