Raj Bhavan Hosts Mental Health Awareness Programme,

Dehradun, October 11 – A Mental Health Awareness Programme was organised at Raj Bhavan today in collaboration with WonderWell Foundation, featuring a panel discussion by experts from diverse fields. Health specialists, psychologists, legal experts, and financial advisors emphasised that mental health is not just a medical concern but deeply intertwined with every aspect of life.Governor Lt Gen Gurmit Singh (Retd) attended the event as chief guest and, in his address, highlighted that mental health is one of the greatest needs of the present time. He noted that in the midst of a fast-paced lifestyle, stress, and competition, maintaining mental peace has become a major challenge. “If the mind is unstable, the body too cannot remain healthy,” he said, adding that self-reflection and inner dialogue are key to realising one’s inner strength. The Governor encouraged people to find joy in small things, stressing that true happiness lies not in achieving big goals but in cherishing small moments. “Living in the present moment is the strongest foundation for mental balance and happiness,” he remarked. He underlined that learning the art of living is essential, describing it as more than just practising meditation or yoga — it is a life philosophy of staying positive in all circumstances, showing empathy to others, and maintaining inner tranquillity.Appreciating the WonderWell Foundation’s initiative, the Governor said that such programmes play a vital role in building awareness, sensitivity, and a culture of dialogue around mental health in society
