CCTV Footage Reveals Irregular Attendance, Action Likely

Kumaon Commissioner Deepak Rawat has taken serious note of the irregular attendance of Dr. Jagdeep Singh, Orthopedic Specialist posted at the Community Health Centre (CHC), Garampani. Reports revealed that the doctor allegedly visits the hospital only once in ten days and signs the attendance register for several days at a stretch.

The matter was probed by the Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Kainchidham, on the commissioner’s orders. The SDM informed that Dr. Singh had indeed signed the register but had not been present at the hospital for the past week.

Verification of the hospital’s CCTV footage also did not show Dr. Singh’s presence. When asked, the Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Nainital stated that he had no prior information about the doctor’s absence. It also came to light that CHC Garampani CMS Dr. Satish had failed to report the matter to higher authorities. The case came under notice only on Wednesday, August 27, when the CMS finally informed the CMO.

Taking the issue seriously, Commissioner Deepak Rawat has directed the Director, Medical and Health Services, Kumaon Division, Nainital to conduct a detailed inquiry. He further instructed that if found guilty, disciplinary action must be taken against the responsible medical officer(s).
