Operation Smile Relaunched in Nainital to Locate Missing Persons and Ensure Rehabilitation,,

Haldwani, January 13, 2026: Uttarakhand Police has restarted “Operation Smile” for two months from January 1, 2026, to trace and rehabilitate missing persons across the state. In Nainital district, under the directions of SSP Dr. Manjunath T.C., CO Operation Amit Kumar (Nodal Officer) has formed four teams, including the Anti-Human Trafficking team, comprising one sub-inspector and four constables.CO Operation held a workshop with Operation Smile teams today at the Police Multipurpose Building in Haldwani. He instructed them to prepare data on missing persons as per police headquarters guidelines, verify details, and search probable locations and states. Teams were directed to coordinate with other stakeholder departments and NGOs for campaign success, and strictly follow court and commission orders during questioning and recovery of missing persons.The workshop was attended by Kumkum Dhanik from Anti-Human Trafficking Cell, Pooja Bhatt from Social Welfare Department, Kanchan Arya from Government Women’s Welfare and Rehabilitation Center Haldwani, Kiran Pant from Child Helpline Haldwani, Vinita Pathak from Child Welfare Committee Haldwani, Operation Smile team in-charges, Anti-Human Trafficking Cell, and technical team from District Crime Records Bureau.
