Nainital Winter Carnival Concludes Grandly on 26 December 2025,,
Nainital Winter Carnival came to a magnificent close with enthusiastic participation from tourists from various states across the country as well as people from different regions of Uttarakhand.In line with the directives and vision of Honorable Chief Minister Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami to promote winter tourism in Uttarakhand, the Nainital Winter Carnival was organized after a gap of seven years.This 2025 edition of the carnival was held from 22 to 26 December. The event kicked off on the first day, 22 December, with a trekking expedition to Naina Peak.
On the second day, 23 December, carnival processions (jhnaki), a food carnival, and cultural programs were organized. The processions showcased a vibrant blend of the rich art and culture of the state and the country. This was followed by a cultural evening featuring renowned Uttarakhand folk singers Govind Digari, Khushi Joshi, Neeraj Mishra, Rakesh Khanwal, along with the ballad of Rajula Malushahi, and captivating performances by star artists Charu Semwal and Parmish Verma.On the third day, local Uttarakhand artists and cultural troupes presented various performances, including Uttarakhand star artists Inder Arya, Girish Bargali, and Kishan Mahipal during the cultural evening. Thousands of spectators and tourists enjoyed the event, swaying to the colorful presentations.On 24 December, “Kahaniyon ka Kona” (Corner of Stories) was presented by Pankaj Jina. The Star Night featured Uttarakhand star artist Pawandeep Rajan and Bollywood singer B Praak, who mesmerized the audience with their songs. Tourists from various states were particularly thrilled and danced with excitement to their performances.On 25 December, a competition for the best dancers and singers of Nainital was held, featuring performances by Uttarakhand star Fauji Lalit Mohan Joshi, Darshan Farswan, Swati Bhatt, Pushkar Mehar, and Himnad. Team Shrey Khanna and Pandavaz Band also delivered outstanding shows. On 26 December, the carnival concluded with a trekking event from Birla Chungi to Shri Kanchidham, participated by the Commissioner Kumaon, MD KMVN, and over 200 city residents.During these events, people from Almora, Champawat, Bageshwar, Pithoragarh, and Udham Singh Nagar districts, along with tourists from all corners of the country, participated with great enthusiasm. Many tourists extended their stay in Nainital to experience the local culture and diversity, with several expressing their intent to return next year.Alongside the main programs, activities like lamp lighting (deepdan), processions, ringata, winter line photography, and competitions for city children boosted tourism activities and excited visitors.Local hoteliers set up food stalls to serve traditional Uttarakhand products to attendees and tourists. Painting competitions were also organized to provide opportunities for local residents.The main stage spotlighted Uttarakhand talents like Pawandeep Rajan, Pandavaz, Charu Semwal, Himnath, etc., connecting them with the public through their skills. Bollywood singers were invited to cater to tourists from across the country, ensuring diversity. This grand event was prepared in just one week with contributions from Nainital District Development Authority, banks, Century Paper Mill, Pal Group, Hotel Association, local traders, industrialists, businessmen, and the community.Everyone was delighted to revive this tradition after seven years. The event significantly boosted local business activities and tourist influx. The Honorable Chief Minister’s participation reaffirmed his commitment to promoting winter tourism in the state.District Magistrate Lalit Mohan Rayal informed that to further promote winter tourism, various tourism-related programs will be organized in January, February, and March across the district, including flower exhibitions, bird watching, astro events, and more, to be conducted grandly.
