Haldwani। SSP Nainital Dr. Manjunath TC Reveals Theft Incident in Haldwani’s BadrpuraShrewd Thief Who Stole in Broad Daylight Arrested; Jewelry and Cash-Filled Box RecoveredPress NoteOn 15.01.2026, complainant (elderly woman) Daya Negi, wife of late Jagat Singh Negi, resident of House No. 6/853, Ward No. 11, Talla Gorakhpur Badrpura, Haldwani, District Nainital, reported at Kotwali Haldwani that an unknown person visited her residence in the afternoon pretending to inquire about renting a room. They finalized a rent of ₹8,000 per month. The person introduced himself as Deepak Bisht from Danya, District Almora, and asked the complainant to keep the back gate open while he fetched his belongings. The complainant went to open the back gate.Seizing the opportunity, the person stole an iron box from the second-floor room of the complainant’s house. The box contained 01 gold mangalsutra, two pairs of silver payals, one small gold earring, around ₹10,000 in cash, sarees, and the house registry documents. Based on this, Kotwali Haldwani registered FIR No. 15/26 under Sections 305/331(3) BNS against Deepak Bisht as above.Upon learning of the incident, Dr. Manjunath TC, Senior Superintendent of Police, Nainital District, took cognizance and issued strict directives for swift revelation of the theft and arrest of the accused. Accordingly, SP Haldwani Shri Manoj Kumar Katyal formed a police team under the supervision of Area Officer Haldwani Shri Amit Kumar Saini and leadership of Station Officer Kotwali Haldwani Shri Vijay Singh Mehta. The team identified the thief through surveillance, clue tracking, and review of nearby CCTV footage. Acting on informant tips, they arrested him near the Medical College gate on Bareilly Road in Haldwani area. Section 317(2) BNS was added to the case based on recovery.Accused Details:
