Memorandum Submitted to the Hon’ble Railway Minister Regarding Demolition Notices in Haldwani,,

Pavneet Singh bindra

Haldwani On 14th August, under the leadership of Bhim Army District President Nafees Ahmad Khan, a memorandum was submitted to the Hon’ble Railway Minister through the City Magistrate in Haldwani, Lalkuan (District Nainital), Uttarakhand.

Key Points of the Memorandum

  • Issue:
Under the AMRUT Scheme, the Railway Department has been surveying and marking houses with red paint. Residents claim that buildings with these red marks — including temples, mosques, houses, and shops — are likely to be demolished later.
  • Local Concerns:
    • Residents have been living in the area for around 50 years.
    • Most families live below the poverty line and do not have the means to build homes elsewhere.
    • Eviction could lead to loss of livelihood and even push some to extreme actions such as suicide.
    • Many homes are in poor condition, some with tin sheet roofs.
    • Geographical & Technical Objections:
    • The marked sites are near the Gola River, which flows deep below the railway station.
    • In the past, heavy river currents have damaged railway tracks, leading to train cancellations.
    • The location is considered unsafe for large-scale railway construction.
  • Demands:
    • Residents far from the railway line should not be evicted.
    • If eviction is unavoidable, proper rehabilitation arrangements must be made.
  • Signatories & Participants:
Nafees Ahmad Khan, Siraj Ahmad, Jeevan Chandra Arya, Firoz Khan, Rajkumar Nivesh, Naveen Moolnivasi, Mahesh Chandra, Harish Lodhi, Mohammad Saleem, Jeet Ram, Govind Rao, Raju Rajbhar, Waseem Ahmad, Tasleem Ahmad, Mohammad Abrar, Chanda, Munni Devi, Sushila Devi, Sayra, Fakiran, and others.,,
