Lalit Mohan Rayal Assumes Charge as Nainital District Magistrate, Outlines Development Priorities,

Nainital, October 14, 2025 — Newly appointed District Magistrate of Nainital, Lalit Mohan Rayal, formally assumed office on Tuesday, pledging to implement government schemes effectively, address public grievances promptly, and ensure timely completion of ongoing development projects.Rayal began his duties by visiting the Nainital Treasury, where he inspected records and official stamps, before formally taking charge. He emphasized that public-oriented work will be handled on a priority basis, with a focus on disseminating government policies effectively to beneficiaries. He highlighted tourism infrastructure development, smooth traffic management, and expediting public services as key priorities, alongside regular monitoring of ongoing projects to ensure timely completion. Enhancing facilities for visiting tourists also features prominently in his agenda.Following the takeover, Rayal convened a meeting with the Chief Development Officer, revenue officials, and other departmental heads to review development and revenue-related activities. He instructed officials to resolve public issues with transparency and sensitivity, expedite welfare schemes, and maintain open dialogue with residents. He stressed the importance of predetermined public meeting hours to hear grievances and directed officers to work with enthusiasm and commitment.The District Magistrate reviewed schemes under the Rural Development, Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry, Social Welfare, Child Development, and Panchayati Raj departments, directing that all eligible beneficiaries receive scheme benefits promptly. He ordered timely issuance of birth and death certificates by Panchayati Raj and Urban Development departments, reviewed Uniform Civil Code (UCC) certificate issuance, and instructed necessary improvements.He also assessed the status of pending cases in sub-divisional courts, directing officers to ensure timely disposal in accordance with revenue manuals, including inheritance and land tenure matters. Before assuming office, Rayal was accorded a Guard of Honour by the police, and welcomed by various administrative officers and staff.The event was attended by CDO Anamika, ADM (Administration) Vivek Kumar, ADM (Revenue) Shailendra Singh Negi, District Development Authority Secretary Vijay Nath Shukla, SDMs Pramod Kumar, Paritosh Verma, Rekha Kohli, Rahul Verma, B.C. Pant, Nawazish Khalik, Chief Treasury Officer Kamlesh Bhandari, and other officers and employees.
