Kumaon Commissioner Deepak Rawat Reviews Jamarani Multi-Purpose Dam Project Construction,,

Nainital/Haldwani Kumaon Commissioner Deepak Rawat chaired a review meeting on the construction progress of the Jamarani Multi-Purpose Dam Project—being built for irrigation, drinking water, and power generation—at his camp office in Haldwani. The meeting featured detailed discussions on the project’s progress, timelines, and quality aspects.During the review, Jamarani Dam Project General Manager Mahesh Khare informed that construction of two tunnels under the project has reached about 85% completion. Additionally, work has begun on building two coffer dams to divert the river water. He stated that tunnel construction and the artificial dam will be fully completed by June 2026, after which river water will be diverted through the tunnels during the upcoming monsoon season. Following this, efforts will accelerate on the permanent dam structure.General Manager Mahesh Khare shared that the entire Jamarani Dam Project is targeted for completion by June 2029. Once finished, this project will mark a milestone for irrigation, drinking water supply, and electricity generation in the region.The meeting also reviewed canal construction works under the Jamarani Multi-Purpose Dam Project. Officials reported that construction on the Haripur Feeder and Pahwa Feeder is underway. On this, the Kumaon Commissioner directed that necessary steps be taken to cover the Jamarani Canal feeder in Haldwani city area to avoid any inconvenience to urban residents.The Commissioner also sought detailed information on the construction of a residential colony at Parag Farm in Kichha, Udham Singh Nagar district, for the rehabilitation of families affected by the project. He instructed officials to ensure all works are completed within the stipulated timelines and in line with high-quality standards.The review meeting was attended by Assistant Director, Economics & Statistics Department Rajan Tiwari, Deputy General Manager Jamarani Dam B.B. Pandey, along with other project-related officials and staff.
