Independence Day Tennis Cup 2025: New Tennis Stars Shine in Nainital,

Nainital — Organized by the District Tennis Association, Nainital, the prestigious Independence Day Tennis Cup 2025 was successfully held on August 15-16 at Optimum Tennis Academy, Chunakhan, Bailpadav. Players from across the region participated enthusiastically, delivering fiercely contested matches.

The results in various singles categories were as follows—

• Under 45 years: Manas Tiwari (Ramnagar) defeated Rajat Kumar Sati (Haldwani) 6-4 in the final to clinch the trophy.
• 45+ to 55 years: Amar Jagati (Nainital) won against Sumit Tiwari (Ramnagar) 6-3.
• 55+ years: Harish Prasad (Haldwani) beat Siveshwar Singh (Nainital) 7-5.

In the team championship doubles event, the Nainital Yellow team emerged victorious by defeating Ramnagar 2-1 in the final. The winning team comprised Amar Jagati, Siveshwar Singh, Manvendra Harbola, Amit Joshi, Aditya Chaubey, and Ravi Teja. The runner-up Ramnagar team included Namit Tiwari (Captain), Gautam Joshi, Mohit Singh Rathore, Prakhar Tiwari, Sumit Tiwari, and Manas Tiwari.

The closing ceremony featured chief guest Mr. Sumit Goyal (Vice President, UTA Dehradun) awarding the winners. Amar Jagati received the ‘Tennis Player of the Year 2024-25’, Manas Tiwari was honored with the ‘Best Improved Player’ award, and veteran player Mr. G.L. Sah was bestowed with the ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’.

Secretary of the organizing committee, Hem Kumar Pandey, described the event as an auspicious symbol for the growth of tennis in the region and expressed heartfelt thanks to all supporters and collaborators.
