Haldwani. Continuing its annual tradition, the Parvatīya Sānskṛtik Utthān Mañc (Mountainous Cultural Upliftment Forum) will organize a nine-day Uttarayani Mahotsav from January 7 to 15, 2026. Under the “Mañch Ghughutiyā Tyār” banner, this festival will vividly show case Kumaoni culture through colorful performances, a cultural trade fair, sports competitions, and a grand procession. Organizers have extended a warm invitation to all residents of the region.Daily Highlights to Enliven the FestivalThe event kicks off on January 7 with Shri Shri Goljyū Pūjan and Ārtī. Evening cultural programs from 5 to 9 PM will run daily. Competitions for children to youth include folk songs, dances, speeches, painting, fancy dress, and more. The finale on January 15 features volleyball finals, award distribution, and closing ceremonies. The fairground will offer hill produce, lentils, and traditional foods.Key Competitions and RulesSports: Children’s races, kho-kho, tug-of-war, Chholiya dance, etc.Cultural: Folk dance (no recorded music), poetry symposium, Aipan art.Rules: Competitions only with at least four teams.
