Governor Participates in ‘Devbhoomi Mega Ex-Servicemen Rally’ at Garhi Cantt,
Dehradun,,Governor Lt Gen Gurmit Singh today attended the Devbhoomi Mega Ex-Servicemen Rally held at Jaswant Singh Ground, Garhi Cantt. The event saw the presence of Soldier Welfare Minister Ganesh Joshi, CDS General Anil Chauhan, along with thousands of ex-servicemen and Veer Naris.Honouring Ex-Servicemen and Veer NarisOrganised by Uttarakhand Sub Area, the rally featured the distribution of scooters to 14 differently-abled ex-servicemen by the War Wounded Organisation. In addition, 20 Veer Naris and outstanding ex-servicemen were felicitated. The Soldier Welfare Department also provided golf carts to Uttarakhand Sub Area, funded through UPNL (Uttarakhand Purv Sainik Kalyan Nigam Limited), to enhance ex-servicemen’s mobility facilities.Governor’s AddressCalling the occasion historic, the Governor expressed pride in such a large gathering of ex-servicemen. He praised their sacrifice, discipline, and patriotism as an invaluable inspiration for society, stating that these values will guide future generations. He emphasised the duty of society to remember their contributions and uphold the ‘Nation First’ spirit for India to become a global leader.Addressing Veer Naris, the Governor encouraged them to strengthen their finances by joining self-help groups and achieving self-reliance. He urged ex-servicemen to share their leadership, discipline, and vision with society to inspire the youth. Announcing welfare measures, he informed that a grievance redressal officer has been appointed at Raj Bhavan to resolve ex-servicemen’s issues, with Raj Bhavan’s doors always open to them.CDS General Anil Chauhan’s RemarksGeneral Chauhan commended ex-servicemen’s role in nation-building, acknowledging Uttarakhand’s identity as the ‘Land of the Brave’ that has enhanced national pride in every war and crisis. Highlighting the armed forces’ transition towards advanced warfare systems and technologies, he reaffirmed India’s peaceful nature but warned against any compromise on sovereignty. He lauded ex-servicemen as the eyes on the nation’s borders, ensuring security through their vigilance, and called on youth to draw inspiration from their dedication and service.Additional Facilities and EventsThe rally also hosted a job fair featuring 21 companies, along with banking services, state government scheme information counters, and free medical camps for ex-servicemen and their families.
