Dehradun, December 16, 2025: On Vijay Diwas, Uttarakhand Governor Lt Gen Gurmit Singh (Retd) paid solemn tribute by offering a wreath to the brave martyrs who laid down their lives defending the motherland at Shaurya Sthal here today. He also interacted with serving and veteran soldiers, commending their priceless role in safeguarding the nation.Reflecting on the landmark 1971 India-Pakistan War, the Governor described it as a golden chapter in India’s military annals. Indian forces showcased extraordinary bravery and tactics, compelling 93,000 Pakistani troops to surrender and enabling Bangladesh’s birth through Pakistan’s bifurcation.”Our armed forces’ strategic brilliance, tough training, disciplined execution, and unyielding patriotism inspire every Indian,” the Governor said.
