Dehradun,,Lt Gen Gurmit Singh, Hon’ble Governor of Uttarakhand, felicitated Dr. Thomas Schaub, Professor of Practice at Doon University and Senior Principal Scientist at BASF Germany, at Raj Bhawan, Dehradun. The Governor appreciated Dr. Schaub’s academic contributions and engagement with scientific research and innovation.During the interaction, Governor Singh highlighted the cultural and ecological importance of the Himalayan Monal (Lophophorus impejanus), the state bird of Uttarakhand. He emphasized that the Himalayan Monal, belonging to the pheasant family Phasianidae, symbolizes the rich biodiversity of the Himalayan region. Known for its dazzling plumage featuring hues of blue, green, red, and gold, the bird, also called the Impeyan pheasant, reflects the vibrant natural heritage of Uttarakhand.
