Dehradun:
Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh (Retd.), Governor of Uttarakhand, held a detailed meeting on Wednesday at Raj Bhavan with senior officials of the Tribal Welfare Department. During the meeting, he reviewed the progress of ongoing schemes for the welfare of tribal communities in the state and stressed that the benefits of these schemes must reach 100 percent of the tribal population, with visible impact at the grassroots level.
The Governor stated that Uttarakhand should be developed as a model state in the field of tribal welfare across the country, inspiring other tribal regions towards comprehensive development. He also sought information about the works being carried out under the Central Government’s “Adi Karmayogi Abhiyan.” This campaign aims to strengthen the economic, educational, health, livelihood, and cultural protection aspects of tribal communities in a consolidated and empowered manner.
Governor Gurmit Singh directed the officials to ensure transparency, efficiency, and accountability in the implementation of all schemes. He emphasized that benefits must directly reach those most in need. Additionally, he urged the promotion of technology-based monitoring and data collection in this sector to enhance oversight.
The meeting was attended by Secretary Dr. Shridhar Babu Adanki, Additional Secretary Reena Joshi, Director of Tribal Welfare Sanjay Tolia, and Additional Director Yogendra Yadav, along with other senior officers.
This meeting is seen as a significant step towards the coordination of efforts between the state and central governments and for the effective formulation of new plans and strategies for the all-round development of the tribal community.
