Deaf Community Celebrates Independence Day with Enthusiasm in Haldwani,

The Kumaon Deaf Welfare Society celebrated Independence Day with great enthusiasm at Shri Shri Ganpati Banquet Hall, Jagdamba Nagar, Janakpuri on Friday. A large number of deaf participants from across Uttarakhand— including Dehradun, Haridwar, Roorkee, Rishikesh, Jaspur, Kashipur, Bazpur, and Gadarpur— took part in the event.
The program was chaired by Society President Hemant Negi and conducted by General Secretary Pawan Balsuni. Both highlighted that since 2004, the Society has been celebrating Independence Day in Haldwani continuously for the past 21 years, bringing together deaf individuals and organizations from across the state. They assured that this tradition will continue in the future.
Key contributions to organizing and managing the event came from Vice Chairman Surendra Munjal, Vice President Manish Narang, Vice President Laxman Singh, Treasurer Piyush Menkani, Joint Secretary Deepak Joshi, Sports Secretary Sameer Sharma, Women’s Wing Secretaries Gayatri Negi and Yogita Bhandari, Advisor Geeta Joshi, and Executive Members Ankit Sanwal and Faiyaz Ahmad. The deaf community collectively sang the National Anthem as well.
During the event, Mr. Sandeep Arora, newly appointed Executive Council Member of the Indian Sign Language Research & Training Center (under the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Government of India), and Mr. Umesh Grover, State General Secretary of Deaf Welfare Association, were honored for their contribution.
Special support for hall and food arrangements was provided by Mr. Prakash Chandra Bhatt, owner of Shri Shri Ganpati Banquet Hall.
