Commissioner Deepak Rawat Inspects Fencing Competition at International Stadium Gaulapar,
Haldwani, September 9, 2025 (News Service) — Following the directives of the Chief Minister, Commissioner/Secretary to Chief Minister Deepak Rawat inspected the fencing competition held at the International Stadium, Gaulapar, on Tuesday. During the visit, he met with the players and inquired about their needs and the facilities available to them.
The Commissioner stated that the Chief Minister has instructed that high-quality facilities should be provided to the players and any issues should be addressed promptly. Accordingly, he directed the Sports Director to arrange an Annual Maintenance Contract (AMC) for all equipment installed in the stadium. Additionally, he instructed the installation of temperature monitoring devices to keep a check on the air conditioning in the indoor stadium.
He also mentioned that a request has been made to the government to authorize the government or professional institutions for the long-term maintenance of the equipment at the International Stadium, ensuring proper and timely upkeep.
The fencing competition at Gaulapar International Stadium is being held from September 8 to 12, with nearly 500 players participating from 26 states across the country.
Present at the inspection were Rajeev Mehta, General Secretary of the Fencing Association; Rashika Siddiqui, Deputy Director of Sports; Nirmala Pant, District Sports Officer; Manisha Bisht, Tehsildar; along with players and officials.
