Bypasses to Be Constructed in Lalkuan, Haldwani, and Kathgodam

Lalkuan: A delegation led by Ajay Bhatt, Member of Parliament from Nainital-Udhamsingh Nagar constituency, met Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari at his residence in Delhi on Tuesday. The delegation submitted a memorandum to the minister highlighting the severe traffic congestion problem in Lalkuan and requesting the construction of a bypass. Lalkuan is an ancient town spread over just one kilometer, where the highway passing through the middle of the town causes significant inconvenience to the residents due to heavy traffic of both light and heavy vehicles.

The MP stated that during the 2022 Lok Sabha elections, Minister Gadkari had announced the construction of a bypass in Lalkuan, but work has not yet commenced. Addressing the delegation, Minister Gadkari assured that bypasses would be constructed not only in Lalkuan but also in Haldwani and Kathgodam. He directed subordinate officers to immediately prepare Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) for all three bypasses. The minister emphasized that this move would facilitate smooth travel for tourists visiting Uttarakhand and solve the persistent traffic congestion problem.

Minister Gadkari also instructed Ajay Bhatt to formally announce this development in his parliamentary constituency. Present on the occasion were MP representative Laxman Khati, councilor Dhan Singh Bisht, Sachin Agarwal, Press Club President BC Bhatt, journalists Rajendra Pant, Ramakant, and Virendra Koranga.
