79th Independence Day Celebrated with Fervor; Outstanding Departments and Personnel Honoured,


Pithoragarh, The 79th Independence Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervor at the District Headquarters in the Collectorate premises on Friday. District Magistrate Vinod Goswami hoisted the national flag, saluted the tricolour, and honoured freedom fighters by presenting them with traditional shawls and mementos.

In his address, the District Magistrate extended greetings on Independence Day and paid tribute to the freedom fighters and martyrs. He urged everyone to remain committed to fulfilling the dreams of the freedom fighters and to contribute to the development of the nation and society. Emphasizing the upliftment of the underprivileged, he called upon the youth to set inspiring goals and work to keep the nation’s independence intact.

The event featured vibrant cultural performances by schoolchildren, which enthralled the audience. A blood donation camp was also organised on the occasion.

Based on the quarterly departmental performance review, the Animal Husbandry Department secured first placePMGSY Dharchula second place, and the Electricity Department third place. Trophies were awarded to the winning departments by the District Magistrate. Personnel who played a major role in successfully conducting the Three-Tier Panchayat General Elections 2025 were awarded commendation certificates, while the police administration was also honoured with a trophy for their exemplary work.

The programme was conducted by young litterateur Lalit Shaurya and General Manager of the District Industries Centre, Kavita Bhagat. Senior officials including Superintendent of Police Rekha YadavDivisional Forest Officer Ashutosh SinghChief Development Officer Dr. Deepak Saini, and Additional District Magistrate Yogendra Singh were present along with other district officials.
