Grand Celebration of Gorkhali Women’s Hartalika Teej Festival 2025,

Garhi Cantt, Dehradun — The Mahendra Ground in Garhi Cantt witnessed a spectacular celebration of the Gorkhali Women’s Hartalika Teej Festival 2025 on Sunday, August 24, 2025. The event was graced by the Chief Guest, Mrs. Gurmeet Kaur, the First Lady of Uttarakhand, while the proceedings were chaired by Mrs. Savita Kshetri.

The entire ground was transformed into a vibrant festival scene as women dressed in traditional red attire participated enthusiastically. Gorkhali groups delivered mesmerizing folk dances and traditional songs that captivated the audience. Special performances by folk singers Asma Banjare and Madhu Pariyar from Nepal enthralled everyone present, spreading joy and festivity.

Mrs. Gurmeet Kaur extended her warm wishes on the occasion of Teej and praised the organizing committee for their dedicated efforts. She emphasized that Hartalika Teej is not just a ritualistic festival but a symbol of women’s empowerment, family unity, and community cooperation. She highlighted how this festival connects people to cultural heritage while encouraging self-confidence and creativity among women.

Praising the Gorkhali Women’s Committee, she noted that for the past 16 years, the committee has been playing a commendable role in preserving traditions and uniting diverse communities on a common platform. Advocating for women’s empowerment, she stated,
“Mothers and sisters are the backbone of families and society. Their contributions should not be confined to homes but should be equally recognized in social, economic, and cultural spheres.”

The success of the Hartalika Teej Festival 2025 not only infused the Gorkha community with the festive spirit but also sent a powerful message of cultural unity and the celebration of women’s strength across communities.
