Yoga Trainer Jyoti Mer Murder Case: Public Outrage Over Police Failure, Allegations of VIP Protection,

In Haldwani, the police have failed to apprehend the accused in the murder case of yoga trainer Jyoti Mer even after 19 days. This failure has sparked widespread anger among locals and social organizations. There are allegations that a powerful VIP might be protecting the criminals, which is why the police have come up empty-handed so far.

A continuous protest has been ongoing for the third day at Buddha Park, where protesters criticized the local police administration’s poor performance and demanded the removal of the SSP (Senior Superintendent of Police) of Nainital. Speakers at the protest claimed that the police are trying to suppress this case, similar to the Ankita Bhandari murder case. They also alleged that lawlessness prevails in the town with criminals roaming freely without fear.

The protesters expressed that such atrocities against women are unacceptable and if the SSP is unable to control such incidents, he should be dismissed. District Secretary Rajendra Kandpal stated that the people will continue their agitation until the murderers are caught and justice is served.

Numerous leaders including city president Fauji Bhuvan Pandey were present at the protest, raising questions about the police’s approach. They emphasized that this is not just about one murder but is a movement to raise awareness against crime and lawlessness in the state.

This entire situation clearly shows that the public has taken to the streets demanding justice, and pressure is mounting on the police administration to resolve the case swiftly and punish the culprits legally to restore faith in the system.
