World Standards Day 2025: Governor Highlights Quality Culture as a Nation’s Strength,
Dehradun. Governor Lt Gen Gurmit Singh (Retd) participated as the Chief Guest in the “World Standards Day 2025” programme organised in Dehradun today. Addressing the gathering, he said that standards are not just technical documents but symbols of trust, transparency, and quality that define the course of development and progress. He emphasised that standards reflect the quality culture of a nation, and when industries adopt them, their products gain recognition and credibility in global markets.The Governor stated that incorporating standards into policy frameworks makes schemes more effective, and when society embraces standardisation, the quality of life of citizens is enhanced. Highlighting Uttarakhand’s nature, rivers, pure air, green forests, and vibrant culture as exemplary standards in themselves, he said the state’s geographical structure teaches the importance of balance, discipline, and responsibility at every step of development.He underlined that aligning plans and construction works with standards can ensure environmental protection along with achieving the ideals of sustainable development. Praising the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) for its positive initiatives in the field of quality and standardisation in Uttarakhand, the Governor said these efforts must reach villages, small industries, and cooperative societies to raise awareness. He called upon all citizens to promote standardisation, adopt a culture of quality, and play an active role in making Uttarakhand an ideal state with standards-based governance and development.At the start of the programme, BIS Dehradun organised a Quality Awareness March in which over 1,000 students participated. On this occasion, officials from various government departments and news organisations were felicitated for their cooperation with BIS. More than 50 exhibition stalls showcased BIS-certified products, scientific models, startup innovations, and projects by Standard Club students. The event witnessed participation of over 1,500 attendees, making it a grand success.
