Surprise Inspection of ATS Centers in Haldwani Led by Dr. Gurdev Singh, Strict Directives Issued on Fitness Fees and Facilities,

Haldwani, September 10: Dr. Gurdev Singh, Regional Transport Officer (Administration), today conducted a surprise inspection of Automated Testing Stations (ATS) located in Belbaba (Haldwani), Lalpur (Rudrapur), and Tanakpur. The inspections were carried out alongside concerned Assistant Regional Transport Officers (ARTOs) and technical officers. The Belbaba ATS inspection was conducted with ARTO V.K. Singh and technical officer Ajay Gupta. Lalpur-Rudrapur’s ATS was inspected by ARTO Mohit Bhandari and technical officer Sanjay Kumar, while the Tanakpur ATS was reviewed by ARTO Surendra Kumar and other technical staff.

During the inspection, ATS operators were strictly instructed to conduct vehicle fitness tests only at the prescribed fees. They were also directed to provide necessary public amenities to vehicle owners and drivers at the fitness centers. All centers were mandated to clearly display the fitness fees and penalties list both inside and outside their premises to maintain transparency. Furthermore, the operators were ordered to ensure that detailed records of all fitness work carried out are regularly submitted to the Regional Transport Office, Haldwani.

This initiative aims to ensure transparency and fairness in the vehicle fitness process and to protect vehicle owners from any arbitrary charges. The inspections come at a time when complaints regarding improper fee collection at fitness centers have surfaced. Officials emphasized strict adherence to the rules and warned that any violations would lead to appropriate action.

The Regional Transport Office plans to continue these surprise checks periodically to maintain compliance and enhance quality in vehicle fitness testing across the region.
