Haldwani,,Roadways bus driver faces hefty ₹5,000 challan for giving false robbery report on Dial 112; Kotwali Haldwani Police takes action.Alto driver and another person fined under Police Act for assault; Alto vehicle seized.Dial 112 is an emergency service—misuse invites strict police action.Incident Details (January 2, 2026): Caller Brij Kishore reported to Dial 112 that the driver of an Alto car (UK01C 1941) had blocked his bus in Tanda jungle, assaulted him, and robbed money.Considering the seriousness, SP City Haldwani Shri Manoj Kumar Katyal directed In-charge Inspector Kotwali Haldwani Shri Vijay Mehta to rush police force to the spot. Control room alerted all concerned to stop the vehicle.Police intercepted the Alto near Ganna Centre, Rampur Road, Haldwani, and brought both parties to the station for questioning.Inquiry with bus passengers revealed a minor collision between the Alto and UP Roadways bus near Tanda Barrier. The Alto driver stopped the bus over vehicle damage, leading to an argument and scuffle. No robbery occurred.Actions Taken:In-charge Chowki Tipinagar Shri Manoj Kumar issued a ₹5,000 challan to Roadways bus driver Brij Kishore (bus UP 30 AT 1958) under Section 83 Police Act for false Dial 112 report.For the brawl, challans of ₹500 each under Section 81 Police Act to Alto driver Harry Singh s/o Gurdeep Singh (Bilaspur Road, Rudrapur) and Deep Singh s/o Ishwar Singh (Bhurarani, Bilaspur Road, Rudrapur); Alto vehicle seized.Nainital Police’s stern warning: Dial 112 is for emergencies only.
