Commissioner Deepak Rawat Takes Swift Action on Serious Issues During Public Meeting in Haldwani,

Haldwani, September 6, 2025 (News Report) — During the public meeting held at the camp office in Haldwani, Commissioner/Secretary to the Hon’ble Chief Minister, Deepak Rawat, heard various grievances from the public and took immediate action on several critical cases.

A significant visa fraud case came to light where a man paid eight lakh rupees to an agent to send his daughter to Australia. Despite the visa being rejected, the agent did not refund the money. The Commissioner issued a stern warning to such agents to refrain from deceiving the public and appealed to citizens to be cautious, advising them to refer to available online information regarding visa procedures and estimated costs before making decisions.

In a serious road accident case in the Khairna area, a woman and her seven-year-old son were hit suddenly by a bike changing lanes. The woman was injured, and the child died. The Commissioner directed strict action and ordered the guilty party to provide the victim’s family with a monthly compensation of five thousand rupees, medical expenses, and insurance compensation for the bike.

Another serious case from Sirauli Kalan village in Udham Singh Nagar related to the sale of mortgaged land without mentioning the mortgage was taken seriously. The Commissioner took immediate cognizance and ensured the return of the money to the affected party on the spot. Such cases usually involve lengthy procedures, but the public meeting enabled speedy resolution.

Complaints regarding encroachment and unauthorized shops on the Public Works Department road in Haldwani were taken up, and instructions were given to remove the encroachments.

The Senior Engineer of the Public Works Department informed that nearly 428 kilometers of roads damaged by rains in Nainital district are up for patchwork tenders, with works to commence this week and expected to be completed within a month.

About 30 residents from Pithoragarh, Champawat, and Almora shared concerns that their plots in Rudrapur had no development or approved layouts by the colonizer. The Commissioner summoned the colonizer Satpal Yadav to the next public hearing.

Additionally, many cases related to land fraud, property disputes, and family issues were heard. Some complaints were resolved on the spot, while others were assigned to the concerned officials for timely action.

Commissioner Deepak Rawat stated that the public meeting program aims to ensure quick and transparent resolution of public grievances. He urged all District Magistrates and Sub-Divisional Magistrates to seriously listen to and resolve issues promptly. He emphasized that when the public approaches officials with their problems, it is both the duty and responsibility of the officials to provide solutions.
