Haldwani. The markets of Haldwani witnessed a massive surge in buyers throughout Dhanteras on Saturday. From early morning till late evening, shops remained crowded as customers thronged to purchase gold, vehicles, utensils, and other festive items. This year, the district recorded an estimated Rs 420 crore in total business.According to Naveen Verma, State President of the Provincial Industry and Trade Representative Board, the recent changes in the GST slab had a positive impact on the market. The reduced prices encouraged greater consumer spending, resulting in higher trade compared to last year.Gold and silver trade touches Rs 123 croreDespite rising prices, jewellery stores saw huge footfall. High-income buyers invested in gold coins, diamond rings, chains, and earrings at outlets such as Tanishq and Reliance. jewellery trade during the two days touched Rs 123 crore.Rs 12 crore turnover in utensil market Buying utensils is considered auspicious on Dhanteras, and customers started arriving from early morning. Steel and crockery items dominated sales while brass utensils were purchased for temples.
